FA-03 · Forms and Applications, Your Facts Only

Your Fact List, Then One Drafted Answer

Draft one written answer from a short fact list — still on the sample form — and delete the whole thing if it grew facts you didn't give it.

20 min Needs: FA-02 · sample form Outcome: one drafted answer, checked phrase by phrase

The rule

The chat sees a question and a short list of your own facts. It never sees anything else. If the answer contains a word or fact that isn't on your list, that whole answer is wrong — not almost right. Delete it and ask again.

Still using the sample form from FA-02 — same fake person, same fake facts.

Find the question, use the fact list

About 5 min

On the sample form, find the "Describe any gardening or volunteer experience" question. The sample worksheet prints the made-up person's fact list right below it — that's all you're allowed to use.

Draft, and ask it to show its work

About 10 min

  1. New chat. Type the question and your fact list exactly, between --- lines.
  2. Ask for a draft under 50 words, using only the list.
  3. Ask it to list, after the draft, every word or fact it did not get from you. That line is your check, not a courtesy.
Worked example

You type:

Here is a form question and my fact list.
Draft one answer using only my list. Under 50 words.
Do not fill in anything I left out. After the draft, list every word or fact I did not give you.
---
Question: Describe any gardening or volunteer experience (50 words max).
My list:
- grew tomatoes and peppers in pots on my porch, 3 summers
- helped at church food pantry on Saturdays, 2023 to 2024
---

A good short answer looks like:

I have grown tomatoes and peppers in pots on my porch for three summers. I also helped at my church's food pantry on Saturdays in 2023 and 2024.
Not from your list: nothing added.

Catch the bad answer, delete the whole thing

About 5 min

Check every phrase against your list yourself — don't just trust the "not from your list" line. Here's the kind of answer to catch, printed on the sample worksheet:

A bad answer (catch this)

Experienced gardener with 3+ years managing organic vegetable production; led the food pantry volunteer team.

"Managing," "organic," "production," "led," and "team" aren't on the list. Delete it all and ask again.

Your draft will be worded differently from the worked example. That's normal. Check it has the same parts: only your facts, nothing grown.

Try this

Put a finger on every word in the draft and match it to a line on the fact list. If a word doesn't match anything, circle it.

You should end with: either a clean draft with nothing circled, or a fully deleted answer you're about to ask for again.

Don't

Don't shrink a made-up line into a smaller made-up line — "managing" into "helping with," say. If any part was invented, delete the whole answer and start over.

Success check

  • Every phrase in my draft points back to my fact list
  • I caught the bad answer's added words in the worked example
  • If my own draft grew a fact, I deleted the whole answer instead of editing it down

Stop line

If the chat keeps adding titles, numbers, or credentials no matter how you ask, stop drafting that answer with it. Write it yourself from the list.

Brake line: New chat and ask again with the exact same list · or close it and write the line by hand.

Every draft keeps growing facts?

Some questions are worded to invite embellishment. A person can help you write it plainly instead.
