The rule for this whole lesson
The chat sees the question's words and your fact list with stand-ins. It never sees your name, birthday, address, SSN, or ID numbers. You type those straight into the real form yourself. You click Submit — the chat never does.
Write your real fact list first
About 5 min · on paper
From your own records: dates, places, and what you actually did. This is the only source either path below is allowed to use.
Form path — one question at a time
About 15 min
- For each confusing question: type only the question's own words into the chat and ask for a plain-words explanation (like FA-2). Then open the instructions using the address printed on the form, not a search.
- For each long answer: draft from your fact list (like FA-3), check it phrase by phrase, and keep it in Notes first — websites can time out and lose what you typed.
- Copy each checked answer from Notes into the real form yourself.
- Type your name, birthday, address, and any ID numbers straight into the form, never into the chat.
Job path — instead of the form path
About 15 min
- Fact list: each job's name (a stand-in like [Old Store] is fine in the chat), dates, and what you actually did.
- Use the job ad's own words only where that work was really yours.
- Draft one answer or one work-history line at a time, the same way as FA-3.
The ad says: "Experience with inventory." Your list says: "counted stock and filled shelf orders at [Store], 2019–2022."
You type:
Here is a line from a job ad and one line from my work history. Rewrite my line so it is clear, using the ad's words only where my line already says it. Do not add numbers, titles, or duties. After the draft, list anything I did not give you. --- Ad: Experience with inventory. My line: counted stock and filled shelf orders at [Store], 2019 to 2022 ---
A good short answer looks like:
Counted inventory and filled shelf orders at [Store], 2019–2022.
Not from your list: "inventory" (you said "stock" — same thing, your call).
Not OK: "Managed inventory for a high-volume store." You didn't manage, and nobody said high-volume.
Yours will be worded differently. Check it has the same parts: your dates, your places, your own actions.
Try this
Before typing anything into the real form's private fields, close the chat tab entirely. Open the form fresh and type your name, dates, and numbers by hand from your paper.
You should see: the chat tab closed, and your own hands typing every private detail directly into the real form.
Don't paste your name, birthday, address, or any ID number into the chat "just to have it draft the whole thing." That's the one line this whole track doesn't cross.
Success check
- Only question words and my fact list went into the chat
- Private details were typed straight into the real form, by me
- Long answers were drafted and checked in Notes before going into the form
Stop line
If a question turns out to be about income, immigration status, a benefit, or a legal statement ("I certify…"), stop the chat for that question. Read the form's own instructions or call the number on it.
Brake line: Website timed out → your answers are safe in Notes. Shared computer → Log out of the chat and the form site.
Trust that instinct. Stop, and call the agency or a person before you type anything else.
